Hello, Kitty White

By now, you have probably seen that Sanrio's Hello Kitty character is not a cat.

Peanuts asserts that Snoopy is a dog, but I also would like to point out Snoopy the Exotic Shorthair.

Disney has been asked about Goofy and Pluto. I don't think Disney will answer that question; in Stand by Me, that question was left unanswered (see the clip).

Any additional thoughts ?

I heard

When Kotaku called Sanrio's Tokyo headquarters [Thursday] and asked whether or not Hello Kitty was indeed a cat, a spokesperson explained, "Hello Kitty was done in the motif of a cat. It's going too far to say that Hello Kitty is not a cat. Hello Kitty is a personification of a cat."
