I heard some young rabbits today. However....
I don't think they survived the day.
When I looked out the window where I heard the first one, it was in the beak of a crow. Yes, a crow caught the baby (well, not quite baby, but still very young) rabbit and took it to the roof of the building next door. It was rabbit and not a mouse; it was a little too big for a mouse, especially at the ears and feet. And a little bit more colorful than a grey mouse.
Then there were two more little rabbits that met the same fate. There were some other crows around, so I don't know if the same crow caught all three.
And the crows did not want to share with me at all. I sometimes miss hunting things now that I'm inside.
Anyway, here's a few pictures of the building next door, from the archives (there's no snow out there today ).

So it's not just the feral or domestic cats hunting the local wildlife.
