Parker reminded me about this one. Do they ever offer any free services ? Is the first exam after being adopted from a shelter free? are there free follow-up appointments after a complicated procedure or behavioral consult? Is there a free dental screening for Pet Dental Health Month in February? are there other services that are offered free of charge?
Are there free informative sessions about things like how to give a cat CPR, or how to safely bring Kitty to the vet?

donations and samples
Sometimes, they may have some donations or samples of medication to give out. Samples are provided by the manufacturer as a "Try it, you'll like it!" kind of thing. Donations are often items returned by people who have too many of them and don't need it -- often, the cat died or was returned to where they got him, or the cat outgrew the whatever-it-was. These items can't be sold again, so they either have to be thrown out or given away.
