Today (Wednesday) is Black Cat Appreciation Day ! Here are some of the black cats I've known, or the human has known.
My Mama was a black cat with long hair.
My littermates Inky, Stripe, and Kiwi were black. Stripe had a stripe down his front, and Kiwi was All Black (like the rugby team from New Zealand).
The next picture has Parker and Butler's older sister Blackie with the cat who may have been my father. Rico is the grey cat in the background.
Juan and Axel were Blackie's kittens from Friendly's generation.
Simon and Blanche were from the litter before Butler and Parker (after Blackie). Blanche is shown with her sister Tasha.
Dark Lady was from Friendly's litter. She had beautiful dark gold eyes.

We had a littermate who was black. He was stillborn about a week after we were born. You never knew him, Truffles, because you had not come to the shed yet.
